20th May 2012
Windsurfing: felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: N
Wind Stength: F3 10-12kts
Surf / Sea State: flatish
Air Temperature: warmish
Sea Temperature: cool
Weather: warm dry
Max Speed: 17.7 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 9 nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Formula heads Colsey Nic and Andy J with Pete on a Phantom phoned confirming the Northerly breeze at the Manor end was sailable on big kit.
Maker Rog and Paul were at the dip end and as it was swinging NE went to the dip. It was F3 off shoreish Paul Rog and Maker was planing sometimes.
Rigged 9.5 XR / Phantom which was perfect in the marginal conditions, planing most of the time, cruising 12-17kts on the GPS. Reminds me on long bd racing in shifty conditions. The Phantom / 9.5 XR combo is spot kit as it kicks up on the plate so easy and stays there and the adjustable outhaul didn't jam once!
Used a MFC 50cm Race fin at the rear and push hard on the reaches off plate with track 1/2 way, and the poxy fin spins out! Yet the original Drake 48cm grips on the same line. Another waste of money on Ebay, should have just left the 48cm.
Wind was up and down and the others chose their moments, but I stayed out the whole session as the board planed 90% of the time, way offshore.
Caught glimpse of the formula heads and they seemed OK, but Pete said 8.5 / Phantom was under powered.
My bloody flushing strip has come off again on the beat. How on earth starbd can build such an expensive great board, yet its dogged with that eternal long bd failure - flushing strips falling off!
Good day out with the boys, but with the iffy wind, shame we couldn't cruise far.
